Digital Direct Marketing

October 2009

It’s been a little while since our last update, but we're still here. In fact we turned 3 this month! Happy Birthday to us! It actually crept up on us as we've been so busy over the last six months; so busy we haven't even had a chance to celebrate! But if you're in the area feel free to drop in and we'll buy you a drink to say thanks!

Keeping with the theme of 3, this month's update has 3 handy tips to help with your digital marketing as well as 3 projects we've been working on over the last month.

Happy Birthday to us!

TIPS and ADVICE

Email Marketing at Christmas
There's never a more important time to ensure email marketing cut through than Christmas and we know that many of you are in the process of sorting out your Christmas email marketing campaigns. We came across this article recently which had some handy tips in it which you may find useful. >>

The Death of Email
Following along the email marketing line, some of you may have seen the Wall Street Journal article claiming the end to the reign of email as a communication tool. We obviously think as a result Econsultancy published an article which details email's changing role - you can read it here >>.

The Myth of the Page Fold
For the techie minded amongst you we thought we'd add this article about website 'page folds'. It presents some interesting research about how people behave if something's above or below the 'fold' . We'd always recommend testing, as all sites are different, but it's an interesting read. Here it is >>

Our Work - EMAIL MARKETING

We're sure you're all aware of the current issues with Royal Mail, none more so that our client Post-Switch.com. So to help keep their customers up to date we designed and broadcast a couple of emails which gave updates on the strike action as well as provided advice on ways to avoid having their mail stuck in the system. The emails have been great to drive traffic to their site and we've also seen large number of forwards.

Our Work - WEB DEVELOPMENT

We recently started working with the charity CBM on a web campaign to help bring their supporters closer to the people doing the work in the field. Called 'Life Stories', the sites each focus on a specific project combining blog updates, photos, videos and twitter feeds to give people a glimpse of the day in the life of an aid worker.

Our Work - VIDEO

As we generate more and more traffic to your websites through emails and other means we’re increasingly conscious that websites need engaging content to keep visitors interested. We're starting to see more use of video and other interactive types of content. We shot this video of the Children's Commissioner for England for 11MILLION Takeover Day.
